WEATHERFORD, Okla. - On another windy day in western Oklahoma, the SWOSU Soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Rogers State on Wednesday afternoon at the SWOSU Athletic Complex.
SWOSU trailed 15 minutes into the game, when Rogers State got on the board first with a goal and the Lady Hillcats were ahead 1-0.
SWOSU struggled to defend and the Lady Hillcats scored another goal, making the score 2-0 with 14 minutes left in the first half. With two minutes left in the first half, SWOSU got on the board as
Brenna McGuirk scored on a corner kick, assisted by
Brianna Benitez. SWOSU trailed 2-1 at halftime.
The Lady Hillcats had nine shots on goal and SWOSU only had. RSU had four shots on goal and SWOSU had two shots on goal. SWOSU goalkeeper
Kirstyn Dill did have two clutch saves for the Lady Bulldogs.
RSU took a 3-1 lead five minutes into the second half. After that goal, RUS never looked back and won the game 3-1, handing SWOSU its second loss of the season.
SWOSU did not have a single shot on goal in the second half. SWOSU had four saves and RSU had a save. SWOSU also had two corner kicks, but RSU had eight.
The Lady Bulldogs fall to 2-2 on the season. SWOSU returns to action, 1 pm. Saturday and they will play on the road at Southern Nazarene University and it is the Lady Bulldogs first road trip of the season.
