SWOSU Volleyball Goes 2-0 On The Weekend

Weatherford, Okla. - Another sweep for SWOSU Volleyball Saturday Afternoon against number one in the conference Arkansas Tech.

It was clear from the start that SWOSU Volleyball was going to come in and play well. The Dawgs were in total sync and it showed through some of the monster attacks from the hitters.  This was very much an offensive game on both sides but the Bulldogs seemed to have just a bit more firepower especially at the middle position with Markenzie Benoit. Benoit had a total of 13 kills through the 3 sets and did so with extreme proficiency hitting at a .526 percentage. While Benoit was impressive, other players had huge games as well.  All year the Dawgs have been very balanced with a lot of depth across the board.  Lacy Mott and Chezney Nielsen at the outside position both racked up 8 kills a piece. Mackenzie Harless also had a great game with 6 kills including the final point of the match with a backside slide.

The Bulldogs come out of an important weekend against two quality teams 2-0. SWOSU was able to stay focused and ride the ups and downs that come with a volleyball match and put the pressure on their opponent to not make a mistake.  Coach Collins had this to say about the incredible showing his team was able to have the last two days, "We are very proud of the way our team prepared and executed this weekend.  We knew that it would take a big effort to protect the PCEC this weekend, and our players accepted that challenge.  We are excited to use the momentum set by this weekend and let it carry us through the back half of conference play."

Although the crowd might not have been as large as usual due to Fall Break, the Bulldog fans didn't let that stop them from being loud and having a clear impact on the game..  Coach Collins said, "There is no better place to play in the country and we are so grateful to represent the school and people that we love!"

SWOSU Volleyball will be back in action October 19th in the Pioneer Cellular Event Center vs. Oklahoma Christian University in a non-conference matchup.  The Dawgs will look to remain unbeaten at home in front of the Bulldog Faithful.
