General SWOSU Sports Information

Behind the Lens: Klemson Lancaster

Hello! My name is Klemson Lancaster and I am a retired SWOSU Volleyball player who has joined the world of Sports Information! I have a degree in Two-Dimensional Studio Art with a minor in Graphic Design. I am currently getting my master's in Art Education.  I am a Graduate Assistant for the greatest Sports Information Director, Doug Self. I was given the opportunity to work with SWOSU Athletics in 2019 after I finished volleyball. I get to work with my best friends every day and watch every game there is. I get to help run our social media, make graphics, and – my favorite – take photos of all the wonderful athletes here at SWOSU! I am so grateful to capture moments for other athletes just like others did for me while I was playing. I love capturing the moments, but the best part for me is capturing the people in the moment. Forever and ever, GO DAWGS!

Here are some of Klemson Lancaster's Favorite Photos for SWOSU Athletics:

Flags
One thing I love about working for Doug Self is always being early. We always get to games early so if we have a chance, we can capture moments that people don't see. This was one of those moments. Yes, it's simple because it's just the SWOSU flags, but we had time to kill so I walked around the empty stadium shooting some artsy shots we could use down the road. To be honest, I took pictures of these flags for 30 minutes, which is insane, but I love how they look at the top of Milam Stadium. When the Blue and White flags fly at the top of the stadium you know it's football season. It was the calm before the storm and the excitement was just about to begin!

Coin
Doug Self asked me if I could take pictures of the coin flip that day.  I am so glad he did because I ended up getting one of my favorites. I love the ref's face in this photo and how you can see the coin's face.  I remember running up to the press box just to edit this one photo.

Dillon
I played with Kaitlyn Dillon for three years, and we are very close. She had an incredible four years at SWOSU. This photo was taken during her last collegiate volleyball game. It's focused on Kait, but behind her are her parents, Lisa and John Dillon, watching their daughter play her last game. Parents sacrifice so much for their kids. I love this picture because win or lose, family is there. I know family is instilled in every one of the volleyball players. This photo reminds me of that. It might not mean much to the unknowing eye, but I am glad I captured an important moment for the Dillon family.

Saunders
Coach Zack Saunders is one of my favorite coaches on campus. He walks into the office and never fails to make you laugh. This picture was taken on Opening Day and I love how you can see Jackson Dietel cheering in the background. This picture was actually supposed to be focused on Dietel, but somehow, I got Saundy screaming with excitement instead!

Marr
I love this picture because it was after Tyler Marr ran it in for our first touchdown of the year! I was standing right next to the end zone and didn't expect to catch it, but it turned out to be one of my favorites.

Mullins
The moment Taylan Mullins-Ohm hit a walk off against Southeastern. The picture says it all!

Cophie
Cophie Anderson – I truly believe she is one of the greatest people at SWOSU! She will brighten your day in a second and her laugh is contagious. I captured this photo at an away game against SNU. This game was physical and intense and Cophie's reactions were by far the best. I've loved every photo I've taken of her, but this one is iconic. It's so her. If you don't know Cophie Anderson, go find her and meet her. She will make you feel like a million bucks!

Soccer
Claire Torry and Brenna McGuirk hug it out after defeating Harding to advance to the GAC Championship. At soccer games, I would always find Claire because she would interact with me and other photographers and shoot us a smile or a thumbs up.  So after they won, I kept my camera on Claire and waited to see what she did. She ran up behind Brenna and jumped on her back. I'm so glad I followed Claire, because I love this sweet moment between teammates!

Thornton
Damion Thornton shaves a #8 in his hair to honor Kobe Bryant days after his death. The sports' world was rocked, and I was able to capture Damion honoring the legend.

Indie
SWOSU means the world to me. I love the family atmosphere, the support from the community, and the people that fill the campus. This picture screams Family to me. Volleyball head coach Josh Collins sits with his daughter Indie on his lap and watches SWOSU Soccer beat Oklahoma Baptist in the GAC Championship. Indie means the world to me and to so many other people at SWOSU. This child knew the fight song at age one and knows exactly when to throw up the DAWG at the end. I love this picture. It's a candid raw moment of a loving father and daughter, both wearing SWOSU gear, doing what they do best--- being a Dawg!
