MAGNOLIA, Ark. – SWOSU Softball was swept during a four-game series at No. 5-ranked Southern Arkansas over the weekend in Magnolia.
The Bulldogs (4-16, 3-9 GAC) return to action next weekend at home, with a four-game series against Ouachita on Friday and Saturday.
Game 1: SAU 7, SWOSU 1
SWOSU got an RBI single from
Hannah Franklin in the sixth inning, but left five runners on base throughout the game while also committing four errors. Franklin went 2-for-3 in the game and was the lone Bulldog with multiple hits in the game.
Miranda Grover (1-5) was the pitcher of record, throwing four innings and allowing four runs on four hits with three strikeouts.
Game 2: SAU 18, SWOSU 0 (5 inn.)
The Bulldogs were again limited offensively in the second game on Friday, recording just two hits while SAU had four home runs and 11 hits overall to race away for the run-rule victory.
Breanna Simmons and
Sydney Karlin each had hits for SWOSU in the contest.
Grover (1-6) took the loss after allowing five runs on three hits with three walks in 2.0 innings in the circle.
Game 3: SAU 6, SWOSU 0
SWOSU was shut out for the second straight game in Saturday's opener despite recording eight hits against the Muleriders pitching.

Jewell Lee had two hits apiece, but the Dawgs again struggled once they got runners on base, stranding nine throughout the game.
Grover (1-7) again started and took the loss despite allowing just two earned runs in 5.0 innings of action.
Game 4: SAU 10, SWOSU 5
Breanna Simmons hit a grand slam to highlight a five-run sixth inning, but SAU answered with four runs in the bottom half of the inning to finish off the series sweep. SWOSU had just three hits in the game and drew four walks while being struck out nine times.
Brianna Cryer (1-6) threw the first 5.1 innings against SAU and walked six while allowing seven earned runs on eight hits and took the loss.
