ADA, Okla. – After splitting with East Central on Saturday, the SWOSU Baseball team finished off their opening Great American Conference series with a commanding 16-4 victory on Sunday in Ada to win the series 2-1.
The Bulldogs scored first and scored often, putting runs on the board in 7-of-9 frames while scoring multiple runs in five different innings. SWOSU had 23 hits in the game, including nine extra-base hits, and six different players had multiple hits.
Drew White led the way, going 4-for-4 with three doubles and seven RBI while
Alex Bedard was 5-for-6 with two doubles and five runs scored.
Jackson Dietel went 2-for-6 with a home run and three RBI and
Miguel Soto,
Adam Theis and
Nicolas Dore had three hits apiece.
Carter Hogan (1-0) picked up the win after holding ECU without an earned run while allowing four hits in 5.0 innings of work. Three relievers –
Ryan Hildner,
Vance Ferraro and
Chase Hamilton – combined to allowed two runs on five hits over the final 4.0 innings to wrap up the game.
With the series win, SWOSU improves to 5-2 on the year and 2-1 in conference play to open the season. Next up for the Dawgs is a three-game set against Southeastern next weekend at the Athletic Complex in Weatherford.
