SWOSU Suffers Second Straight Setback

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech scored the first 11 points of the third quarter and built what turned out to be an insurmountable lead as they defeated SWOSU 101-90 on Thursday evening at Tucker Coliseum.

ATU hit nine of their first 10 three-pointers and finished with 60.7% shooting from the field while SWOSU hit just 39.3% of their field goals and needed 39 attempts from long range to get 10 made threes. After trailing by four at half, SWOSU faced a 67-50 deficit with four minutes left in the third quarter before closing to within 10 at the end of the quarter. The Lady Bulldogs got as close as four down the stretch, but they were unable to get any closer as ATU extended the lead back to double figures for the final.

Five players scored in double figures for SWOSU, with Bethany Franks leading the way for the second straight game after totaling 18 points in addition to three rebounds, three assists and three steals. Tyra Aska recorded her fourth career double-double – third against Arkansas Tech – as she finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds while Lauren Ramey (13), Makyra Tramble (13) and Taber Beer (10) also reached double figures in scoring.
