BETHANY, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball finished off a much-need series sweep on Saturday with a 17-6 victory over Southern Nazarene. With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 21-21 on the year and, more importantly, 17-13 in Great American Conference play with one weekend to play in the regular season.
 
The Bulldogs scored eight runs in the first inning and never looked back, adding two in the third, five in the sixth and two in the seventh to end the game by run-rule at that point. SWOSU finished the game with 19 hits, getting at least one hit from eight players in the lineup and multiple hits from four different players.
 
Rafael Villela was a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate with one run scored and four RBI, while 
Chase Duncan went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and one batted in. 
Tanner Long was 3-for-5 and scored three times while 
Alex Bedard was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI.
 
The Bulldogs used three different pitchers in the game, with 
Gabe Jacobo (3-2) starting and tossing 5.0 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts to earn the victory. 
Jose Laboy and 
Chase Hamilton pitched an inning apiece to close out the contest.
 
SWOSU has now reached the home stretch of the regular season and they'll travel to Enid on Tuesday to host Emporia State in a non-conference matchup before heading to Alva next weekend for a three-game GAC series at Northwestern Oklahoma State.
