WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Following an extra-inning defeat that ended an eight-game winning streak, the SWOSU Softball team rebounded in the second game to earn a doubleheader split against Southern Nazarene on Friday afternoon at the Athletic Complex in Weatherford.
With the split, the Bulldogs earn their 20th win of the season and improve to 20-27 on the year while remaining even at 19-19 in Great American Conference play. SWOSU and SNU will conclude their four-game GAC series on Saturday at noon, with Senior Day activities planned for in between the two games.

The Bulldogs overcame deficits of 5-0 and 10-5, forcing extra innings with a two-run home run from
Amanda Moreno in the bottom of the seventh, but SNU pulled away with two runs in the top of the eighth inning to earn the win. After falling behind 5-0 in the top of the second inning, SWOSU answered with five runs in the bottom half of the inning, getting a two-run single from
Sidney Kirk to go along with RBI singles from
Kaytlin Donaldson and
Hannah Morris to even the score after two.
The following inning, however, was a struggle for the Bulldogs in the field as they committed three errors that allowed SNU to score four runs without recording a hit. The Crimson Storm would run the lead to 10-5 with a solo home run in the sixth, but the Dawgs again fought back with a two-run home run from Donaldson in the sixth followed by the game-tying shot from Moreno in the seventh.
In the extra frame, SNU got a leadoff double as one of three hits in the inning and plated two runs while the Dawgs went in order to end the game
Miranda Grover (4-4) entered the game in the second inning in relief of
Alisa Friesen, but took the loss after allowing the go-ahead run in the 8th inning, one of three earned runs she allowed in 5.2 innings of action.

The Bulldogs managed to salvage a split in the doubleheader by scoring five runs in their final three at-bats to break a 1-1 tie. SWOSU scored three in the bottom of the fourth with a rally started by a pinch hit, RBI double from
Hannah Owen, who later scored on an RBI groundout off the bat of
Hannah Morris. SNU got one run back with a solo home run in the fifth, but SWOSU put the game away when
Keanni Barron came through with a two-run single in a bases-loaded situation in the bottom of the sixth.
SWOSU finished with 11 hits in the game, getting multi-hit games from Morris, Donaldson and Barron while five other players also recorded one hit. Donaldson started the game in the circle before giving way to
Sidney Kirk and
Alisa Friesen (11-10), who pitched the final four innings to get the win.
