ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Bulldog Baseball was unable to limit Henderson State's scoring chances on Friday night as the Reddies raced out to an early lead before finishing off a 14-2 victory in the first game of a three-game GAC series.
Henderson State opened the game with three straight hits and put three runs on the board in the first inning before pushing the lead to 6-0 with another three runs in the bottom of the third. SWOSU's lone offensive production came with back-to-back doubles from
Alex Pimentel and
Tanner Long in the fourth, the latter of which scored Pimentel. Long would later score on a wild pitch for the Dawgs second run of the game.
HSU would answer with three runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth, making it 9-2, which is where the score would remain until the bottom of the seventh. Three hits and a pair of walks allowed HSU to end the game early via run-rule on a three-run walk off home run in the seventh.
SWOSU (12-13, 8-8 GAC) and Henderson State will complete their three-game conference series with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon.
