SEARCY, Ark. – SWOSU shot nearly 48% from the field and knocked down 10 three-pointers in an 87-71 victory at Harding on Thursday evening. The win snapped an eight-game slide for the Bulldogs and concluded a season-sweep of Harding for the first time since the two teams began play as members of the Great American Conference.
Four players scored in double figures for the Bulldogs, who led for close to 26 minutes in the game, which featured 12 ties and 10 lead changes. SWOSU pulled away for good after
Tre Evans scored eight straight points after the game was tied at 58-all with 13:20 to play. The Dawgs eventually pushed the lead up to 16 on a jumper by Evans in the game's final minutes.
Evans, just one week removed from becoming SWOSU's single-season scoring leader, scored 27 points on 8-of-19 shooting while also connecting on 8-of-10 attempts at the free throw line. He added six rebounds, six assists and three steals in the game, while also recording one blocked shot. He was joined in double figures by
Kamden Gipson with 18 points,
Chris Braggs, Jr., with 17 and
Cheikh Fall with 12.
SWOSU improves to 5-22 on the year and 2-19 in GAC play with one game remaining on the schedule. The Bulldogs will conclude the 2018-19 season on Saturday in Russellville against Arkansas Tech, beginning at 3:00 pm.
