EDMOND, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball led Central Oklahoma for 8.5 innings, but the Bronchos scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to come away with the 3-2 non-conference victory on Wednesday evening at Wendell Simmons Field.
 
Alex Bedard reached base on his first two at-bats and came home to score each time to account for both of the Bulldogs' runs. He led off the game with a double and scored two batters later on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Brooks Red and followed that up in the third as he was hit by a pitch, then stole second and advanced to third on a flyout before scoring on a wild pitch.
 
UCO opened the bottom of the third with consecutive hits, stringing together a double and a single to get on the board and make it a 2-1 ball game, which is where it would stay until the ninth. The Bronchos led off the ninth with a solo home run to tie the score, then used a throwing error to advance a runner to third base with no outs. SWOSU had no choice but to issue intentional walks to the next two batters and setup a force all around, but the game-winning run would score on a fielder's choice.
 
Brant Millerborg (0-1) took the loss after allowing one earned run on two hits in 4.0 innings of work. He relived Tyler Tuck, who struck out four in 3.0 innings of work after coming in for starter Haden Branch in the second inning.
 
SWOSU, now 3-4 on the year, opens Great American Conference play this weekend at the Athletic Complex, hosting East Central for a three-game series in Weatherford.
