DURANT, Okla. – Bulldog Basketball matched up with the preseason favorite to win the Great American Conference – Southeastern Oklahoma State – on Saturday and the Savage Storm defeated SWOSU 102-79 at Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
Southeastern led wire-to-wire, scoring the first seven points of the game and never looking back. SWOSU got back within three points on three different occasions in the first half before SE closed the half on a 21-4 run that spanned the final six-plus minutes and gave the Savage Storm a 52-29 advantage at the break. The Bulldogs picked up their pace in the second half, shooting 48.6% from the field and playing Southeastern even with each team putting up 50 points in the final 20 minutes.
SWOSU got a team-high 17 points from
Kamden Gipson along with 15 points and eight rebounds from
Damion Thornton and 10 points from
Jaylan Williams.
Chris Braggs, Jr., and
Dominique Primer chipped in nine points apiece off the bench as the Dawgs got scoring contributions from 10-of-11 players who saw action in the contest.
SWOSU (3-3, 1-1 GAC) returns to action next weekend at the Washburn Classic in Topeka, Kan., facing Washburn on Friday and Newman on Saturday.
