HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – In a match that needed extra points to decide three separate sets, Harding defeated SWOSU 3-1 to eliminate the Bulldogs from the Great American Conference Tournament in the quarterfinal round.
The Bulldogs played from behind in the first set before rallying late to score three straight points and win it 27-25, but over the course of the next two sets their slow starts would be costly as Harding pulled back in front. SWOSU came from down nine points to get within one before Harding won the second set 25-23 and the Dawgs fought off five set points in the third before Harding finally took it at 31-29.
SWOSU would look to flip the script in the fourth set, getting off to a good start with a 9-4 lead that remained at five up until 13-8. The Lady Bisons would slowly close in and take their first lead at 17-16, which started a back-and-forth battle through the next few points. SWOSU would lead 24-23 on a kill from
Emily Wood, but four of the next points were scored by Harding as they close out the set at 27-25, which ended the match at 3-1.
