Win Streak Reaches Seven as Bulldogs Win Twice on Friday

LUBBOCK, Texas – The SWOSU Volleyball team has now won seven straight matches following a Friday sweep at the LCU Chap Classic in Lubbock. The Bulldogs took down St. Mary's and Arkansas-Monticello – both in straight sets – to improve to 3-0 at the event.
 
SWOSU, now 8-1 on the year, will conclude the tournament on Saturday morning at 11:00 am against Washburn, who is currently 9-0 heading into a matchup with Lubbock Christian on Friday evening.

The Bulldogs opened the day with an efficient victory over St. Mary's, hitting .286 for the match while committing just six hitting errors in the entire match. SWOSU had a balanced offensive attack with six players combined for 34 kills, led by Danusia Sipa Borgeaud with nine and Emily Holm with seven.
 
SWOSU's starting middle hitters – Elizabeth McVicker and Sofia Gruden – combined to put down 11 kills with just one hitting errors to go along with seven blocks, helping the Dawgs to a 7-to-0 advantage in total blocks. St. Mary's had the advantage in digs (45-to-32) and assists (33-to-29), but it was not enough to offset their 25 hitting errors and five service errors.
 
Kaitlyn Dillon finished with seven digs and five assists, but made her biggest impact at the service line with a career-best five service aces – which ties for the second-most in program history during a three-set match. Klemson Lancaster led the Dawgs with nine digs while Allie Hoang had a team-leading 14 assists to go along with five digs and three kills.

SWOSU had another efficient offensive performance as they took down fellow Great American Conference member Arkansas-Monticello in a non-conference match. The Bulldogs finished with 41 kills against nine hitting errors on exactly 100 attack attempts, which was good for a hitting percentage of .320.
 
Holm led the Bulldogs with 11 kills while hitting .391 for the match and Borgeaud chipped in 10 kills and hit .222. Jenny Tackett put away eight kills without a hitting error and added two blocks as SWOSU again had an advantage at the net with three blocks, compared to two for UAM.
 
Dillon led SWOSU with nine digs and she added three more service aces to her total for the day. Hoang matched her with three service aces to go along with 29 assists and six digs.
