WEATHERFORD, Okla – The SWOSU Soccer team notched their first win of the season in dominate fashion, as they defeated Oklahoma Christian 5-0.
The Bulldogs set the tone early as they would score four of their five goals in the first half. The SWOSU defense also made their presence felt as they held OCU to just six first half shots and 13 total for the game.
SWOSU would get things going quickly as
Memory Phiri would find the back of the net for her second goal of the season just minutes into the game.
Sandra Nabweteme would follow Phiri with her first goal of the season off of an assist by
Alimata Rabo giving the Bulldogs a 2-0 advantage in the early going. Nabweteme would strike again off a Rabo assist pushing the SWOSU lead to 3-0. Rabo would come through with a goal of her own in the closing minutes of the half giving the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead going into the half. The defense shined in the first half as well limiting OCU to just six first half shots.
The Bulldogs would continue the offensive attack well into the second half as they would keep the Eagle defense on their heels. SWOSU came away with some near misses throughout the half until Rabo would put one in late in the game for her second goal of the night off an assist by Nabweteme giving the Bulldogs a 5-0 advantage.
The Bulldogs would hang on to that lead as they would defeat OCU.
SWOSU will be back in action on Saturday as they host Lubbock Christian at 1 pm.
