Setting the Scene
- SWOSU Volleyball returns to tournament action this weekend as they are set to play four matches at the Chap Classic, hosted by Lubbock Christian
- First up for the Bulldogs is a meeting with the host team, Lubbock Christian, on Thursday night before playing back-to-back matches against St. Mary's and Arkansas-Monticello on Friday
- The Bulldogs wrap up the event on Saturday at 11:00 am against Washburn
 
The Opponents
Lubbock Christian
- LCU enters the weekend with a record of 4-4 after splitting at each of their previous tournaments, the Lady Buff Classic and the Westminster Invitational
- Lubbock Christian leads the all-time series 3-1, but SWOSU won the last meeting between the teams, a five-set thriller in Weatherford on October 15, 2016
 
St. Mary's
- The Rattlers are 3-2 on the year after claiming a split at the San Angelo Invitational before picking up a straight-set win over Our Lady of the Lake
- St. Mary's has won both prior meetings between the two programs, with victories during the 2006 and 2010 seasons
 
Arkansas-Monticello
- UAM dropped to 1-8 on the year following a three-set defeat against Ouachita in their Great American Conference opener on Tuesday night
- SWOSU holds a 6-4 all-time advantage over the Cotton Blossoms and the teams will be meeting in a non-conference match for the first time since 2007
 
Washburn
- The Ichabods have swept through their first tournaments, going 4-0 at their own Washburn Invitational and the Southeastern Oklahoma State Invitational to open the season 8-0
- SWOSU is 0-4 all-time against the Ichabods, with the last meeting between the programs coming back in 2014
 
Around the Conference
- SWOSU was one of four teams to open up Great American Conference play with a victory on Tuesday night, joining Ouachita, Arkansas Tech and Oklahoma Baptist
- Ouachita has opened up the top overall record in the conference at 9-0, while Northwestern Oklahoma State has the second-most wins at 8-2
- SWOSU has the second-best win percentage among GAC teams at .833 with a 5-1 record to open the season
 
SWOSU Notes
- The Bulldogs take a four-game winning streak into Lubbock and they've continued the best start in program history with a 5-1 record after defeating East Central on Tuesday
- Danusia Sipa Borgeaud leads the Bulldogs with 76 kills (3.17 per set) and she was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Pioneer Classic on the opening weekend of the season
- Kaitlyn Dillon is ranked third in the GAC with 111 digs (4.62 per set), which helped her to be named the GAC Defensive Player of the Week following the first tournament of the year
- SWOSU's starting middle hitter duo of Sofia Gruden and Elizabeth McVicker have been coming on strong, averaging a combined 5.18 kills and 1.50 blocks per set while each player has a hitting percentage above .275
- Since taking over as the Bulldogs setter, Allie Hoang has averaged 8.6 assists per set with three double-doubles and she's ranked third on the team with 71 digs (2.96 per set)
- Borgeaud and Klemson Lancaster are tied for the team lead with 8 service aces apiece, helping the Bulldogs to average 1.54 aces per set

- SWOSU returns to Great American Conference play next week, beginning on Tuesday at Southern Nazarene before hosting Northwestern Oklahoma State next Thursday in Rankin Williams Fieldhouse
