EDMOND, Okla. – The SWOSU bats tallied double-digit hits, but the Bulldogs fell to Central Oklahoma 17-7 (8 Inn.) on Wednesday after committing six errors and surrendering 10 unearned runs to the Bronchos.
It was the second game in as many days for the Bulldogs who came out swinging the sticks early after jumping out to a 5-0 lead over UCO in the top half of the first inning.
Jason Nichols delivered a two-RBI single before
Daniel Richardson hit his eighth home run of the season, a three-RBI jack that concluded the SWOSU scoring in that opening frame.
The Bronchos got a pair of runs back in the bottom half of the first inning with a two-run home run themselves and then took the lead for good an inning later after putting up six runs in the second inning.
SWOSU got single runs in the third and fourth innings which included an
Alex Pimentel home run, but UCO again produced a six-run fourth inning while adding one run in the third, fifth and finally the eighth inning that ended the game via run rule.
Jose Laboy (L, 0-2) got the start on the mound and allowed eight runs (four earned) in 2.0 innings of work before passing the ball to
Gabe Jacobo who also went 2.0 innings and allowed seven runs (three earned).
Brooks Pond gave the Dawgs 3.2 innings of work and found the most success of the three arms on the day after allowing two runs (both unearned).
On defense, SWOSU committed a season high six errors that accounted for 10 of UCU's runs on the day.

Brady Burtner, and
Jason Nichols all led the team with a pair of hits each.
SWOSU (14-9, 9-3 GAC) will now return home this weekend where they will host Southern Arkansas in the fifth straight GAC series played in Weatherford. Game one is scheduled for Friday at 2 pm and the doubleheader is set to begin Saturday at noon against the Muleriders.
