Bulldogs Get Back on Track With Victory Over Oklahoma Christian

Box Score

EDMOND, Okla. – SWOSU Men's basketball came back from an early first half deficit to defeat Oklahoma Christian 91-85 on Thursday night at the Eagles' Nest inside the Payne Athletic Center.

SWOSU found themselves trailing for most of the first half of play getting behind 11-3 early in the half. The Bulldogs did not give up sticking close to Oklahoma Christian and taking their first lead of the ball game with three and a half minutes remaining in the half thanks in part to the performance of Jamar Sandifer. Sandifer led the way for SWOSU in the half tallying 17 points going 3-for-5 from beyond the arc and was the spark throughout the first 20 minutes hitting key shots when the Bulldogs needed it most. The two sides then began to take turns with the lead in the final minutes if the half. SWOSU came out of the first period of play on top taking a 40-37 lead into the halftime locker room.

The start of the second half seemed to go the Eagles way but SWOSU showed resilience and controlled the lead for the majority of the half. The Bulldogs saw their lead get to as many as nine at 73-64 with five minutes to go in the game. SWOSU stayed strong weathering several Eagle comeback efforts to come away victorious lead by Tre Evans who scored 18 of his season-high 32 points in the second period of action.

Two other Bulldogs joined Evans in double figures as Jamal Sandifer finished the contest with a season high 25 points while also hauling in a season best seven rebounds. Kamden Gipson was the other Bulldog to record double digit points recording 14 points and dishing out four assists. Jefkins Ageyman-Budu set a new career mark of 11 rebounds in the game surpassing his previous mark of 10 set against Northwestern Oklahoma State last season.

The Bulldogs will now turn their attention to Southern Nazarene who will come into town on Saturday with game time set for 3:00 pm.
