WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The SWOSU Men's basketball team ended 2018 with a bang as five players scored in double figures in their 99-88 win over Randall Saturday afternoon for their third win of the season.
The Bulldogs found themselves in a seven point hole early before going on an 11 to 2 run to take the lead at the first media timeout. SWOSU held the lead from that point on extending it to 11 points with just over 11 minutes to go in the first half. Randall attempted to mount a comeback but the Dawgs held strong taking a 50-30 point lead into the halftime locker room off the hot shooting of
Nick Shoemaker who went 5-of-6 from beyond the arc in the first frame of play totaling a season high of 15 points.
The Bulldogs continued to control things in the second half but Randall did not go down without a fight. The Saints put together a 17 to 3 run midway through the second half to cut the Dawgs lead to 72-71 with 7:23 left in the game. SWOSU held tough and pushed the lead back up to double digits at the final media timeout to stave off the Randall comeback bid.
The Bulldogs were led by
Tre Evans who registered 19 points in the contest doing most of his damage at the free throw line going 13-of-15 on the day while also tallying seven assists and seven rebounds.
Kamden Gipson chipped in 16 points adding five assists
Marcus Thomas added 13 of his own while
Chris Braggs, Jr. tallied 12 points.
Daniel Eibel finished the contest with a season high of eight points.
SWOSU will play host to Arkansas-Monticello on Thursday, January 3, at 7:30 pm.
