SWOSU Pushes Past Southeastern With Big Second Half

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Women's Basketball used a strong offensive effort in the second half on their way to a 96-70 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
 
Southeastern jumped out of the gate with a 7-0 run, but SWOSU answered with a run of their own, going on a 12-5 run knotting the game at 12-12 at the first media timeout. The Savage Storm came out on top of the back and forth affair with a 17-14 lead at the end of the first quarter of play. The Lady Bulldogs began to take control of the contest in the second quarter as they took the lead midway through the quarter and did not look back taking a 38-31 lead into the halftime locker room.
 
The Lady Bulldogs came out of the halftime break with a passion lighting up the scoreboard and outscoring the Savage Storm 58-39 in the second half. SWOSU dominated the third quarter specifically limiting Southeastern to just 14 points. The Savage Storm attempted to rally back going on a 9-0 run at the start of the fourth quarter but Tyra Aska countered with her own personal 9-0 run on her way to her season high 23 points on the afternoon. Katie Percival pitched in a season 10 points in the final minutes for the Lady Bulldogs putting the finishing touches on the contest.
 
Hailey Tucker put in another solid performance recording 19 points and five rebounds on the afternoon. Hayden Priddy tallied 13 points and dished out a game high five assists. Bethany Franks made her presence felt in the rebounding column, bringing down a season-high 17 rebounds.
 
The Lady Bulldogs will be on the court again when they take on No. 18/15 Lubbock Christian on Monday, December 3, at 5:30 pm in the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
