WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Football ended the 2018 season with a 35-14 defeat to Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday night at ASAP Energy Field.
Senior
Joel Blumenthal scored the first both of SWOSU's touchdowns, returning a blocked punt in 37 yards for a score in the first quarter and adding a one-yard touchdown reception from
Casey Freeman in the closing seconds. In between, it was all Northwestern as the Rangers rattled off 28 points in the second quarter before adding a score early in the fourth quarter.
SWOSU was held to 229 yards of total offense, including just 26 rushing yards, while Northwestern accumulated 413 total yards.
Casey Freeman completed 18-of-38 passes for 203 yards and one touchdown, but was intercepted twice, with
DJ Hicks finishing as his leading receiver with four receptions for 56 yards.
Defensively, SWOSU was led by
Braden Sweet with 10 tackles (4 solo, 6 assist) while
Dalton Cooper made 9 stops (4 solo, 5 assist), including 2.5 tackles for loss along with one pass breakup in his first career start.
Diondre Scott blocked two punts in addition to his eight tackles while
TJ Harris had eight tackles and a sack in addition to a blocked field goal in his final collegiate game.
SWOSU concludes the 2018 season with a record of 3-8, matching the program's win total from the 2017 season.
