Bulldogs Fall to Fifth-Ranked Central Missouri

Box Score (html)

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – SWOSU Soccer began the 2017 season on the losing end against No.5-ranked Central Missouri on Thursday afternoon, falling to the Jennies by a final score of 4-0.

The Jennies struck first in the 13th minute after a shot from inside the box was able to find the far right side of the net. UCM extended that lead in the 27th minute when their leading goal scorer from a year ago scored her first goal of the season. The Bulldogs did manage to put five shots on goal in the half, but none were able to get past the Central Missouri goalkeeper and went into the half scoreless.

Another Central Missouri goal at the start of the second half pushed the deficit to 3-0 and the scoring was capped off in the 69th minute with a converted penalty kick goal. SWOSU took only four shots in the second half, two of which were on goal, and again went scoreless in the 45-minute period.

Alimata Rabo was the source for the offense all afternoon, leading SWOSU with six shots taken. UCM outshot SWOSU 23-10 in the match total including 13-7 on goal and took two more corner kicks than the Dawgs.

This is the second-consecutive year the Bulldogs have been shut out by a nationally ranked UCM squad, losing by a final of 3-0 in 2016.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 2 against Southwest Baptist to conclude their two-game road trip in Missouri.
