The lead would be short-lived, however, as Henderson State responded with two home runs in the top of the fifth that gave the advantage back to the Reddies at 5-3. HSU added an insurance run in the top of the seventh and hung on for the victory.
The Bulldogs were held to six hits in the game, getting two from Kirk and one each from Hawk,

Box Score
The Bulldogs trailed 2-0 after three innings, but got two unearned runs – including an RBI single from
Samantha Householder – to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth. Unfortunately, the Reddies responded in a fashion similar to the first game and scored two runs in the top of the fifth to regain the lead.
HSU then got two runners on in the top of the seventh for Ashleigh Erb, who homered to straight away center field and put the game out of reach. SWOSU did get an RBI groundout from
Taya Haney in the bottom of the 7th, but it was not enough to come back in the nightcap.
Abigail Schade had two of SWOSU's five hits in the game and one of two RBI while Haney,
Samantha Householder and
Miranda McDonald also recorded base hits. Haney (3-10) tossed a complete game, allowing seven runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and four walks but took the loss.
