Bulldogs Dropped Twice as SNU Takes GAC Series


BETHANY, Okla. – Southern Nazarene swept a doubleheader against SWOSU Softball on Saturday in Bethany to take the series from the Bulldogs 3-1. SWOSU (11-21, 5-17 GAC) will return to action on Tuesday with a doubleheader at Northwestern Oklahoma State.

Samantha Householder has both of SWOSU's hits in the game, including a leadoff home run over the fence in left field to open the game. She added a single in the third inning, but SNU scored a combined eight runs in the third and fourth innings before pushing across a walk off run on a single in the fifth inning to end the game early by run rule.
 
Taylor Eaves (1-6) started and took the loss after allowing three runs on two hits in two innings before Taya Haney entered in relief and closed out the game over the final 2.2 innings with five hits and six runs allowed.

SWOSU scored five runs in the fourth inning, but it was not enough to help overcome an early 12-2 advantage as Southern Nazarene took the series finale. After SWOSU pulled back within five at 12-7 in the fourth, SNU answered with three runs of their own and ended the game by run rule after the fifth.
 
Kenedi Jackson had a 2-for-3 effort at the plate for the Bulldogs while Paige Bowler hit a solo home run and Allyson Gafford and Rileigh Ricken had two RBI apiece. Ricken started the game in the circle, but took the loss after allowing eight earned runs on seven hits in 1.1 innings of action.
