WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The Lady Bulldogs had their eight game winning streak to start the season come to an end on Thursday at the hands of No. 6/5 Lubbock Christian by a final score of 95-65.
SWOSU couldn't cool down LCU's hot shooting, as the Lady Chaps finished with 15 made three point shots on 15-for-30 from beyond the arc and an even 50.8% (30-of-59) shooting overall from the field. The Lady Bulldogs couldn't keep up with the Lady Chaps' scoring output, failing to surpass their previous season low point total – scoring just 65 points in the game.
LCU's leading scorer Tess Bruffey did just that against SWOSU on Thursday, totaling 25 points and 6-of-7 from deep. Two other Lady Chaps notched into double figures, with Maddi Chitsey tallying 17 and Caitlyn Cunyus adding 10.
SWOSU was led by
Hailey Tucker who finished with 17 points and
Tyra Aska with 13 and
Penina Faumui with 12. As a team, the Lady Bulldogs shot 39.1% collectively and just 60% from the free throw line. SWOSU had 11 shots blocked in the paint, with Bruffey swatting seven of those.
The loss pushes SWOSU's record to 8-1 heading into one final non-conference matchup with Oklahoma Christian next Friday before the Lady Dawgs break for the holidays.
