Box Score (html)

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Women's Basketball kept their perfect record intact on Saturday following an 80-72 victory over Henderson State to conclude the opening weekend of conference play.

The first half saw both teams trade dominant quarters. It was all SWOSU in the first quarter, jumping out to a nine-point lead after the first 10 minutes scoring 26 points to HSU's 17. The Reddies would counter though in the second quarter, topping the Dawgs by nine themselves with a 23-14 scoring run in the second 10-minute session to send the teams into the halftime locker room knotted at 40-40.

The Reddies never led by any more than one score all afternoon against SWOSU, leading for just 1:55 of total game time and by a maximum of three points there midway through the second quarter.

SWOSU built its lead back up in the third quarter, outscoring the Reddies 26-13 and headed to the fourth quarter leading by double digits at 66-53. In the fourth, HSU cut its deficit to nine twice but couldn't chip away any further while SWOSU managed to extend its lead to as many as 15 and control any run HSU would attempt to go on.

Hailey Tucker ended as the high scorer, tallying 23 points on 7-for-17 (41%) from the floor including 3-of-8 (37.5%) from beyond the arc. She also added three blocks, steals, and rebounds to her final stat line. Taylor Hedrick was the other player in double figures, adding 12 points and a season best three assists while Taber Beer had a career high eight points on a perfect 2-of-2 from deep.

SWOSU was solid at the free throw stripe, shooting 87.5% after knocking down 21 of their 24 attempts. Offensively, the Dawgs finished above the 40% shooting mark for the third time in four games with a 41.3% (26-for-63 overall, 7-for-24 three-pointers) clip. On defense, they forced 21 Reddie turnovers to counteract the 18 they committed themselves.

The Lady Bulldogs (4-0, 2-0 GAC) will play a pair of non-conference games over Thanksgiving week against Cameron on the road at 5:30 pm on Wednesday (Nov. 22) and Northeastern State at 2 pm on Saturday (Nov. 25) in Weatherford.
