Bulldogs Play Oklahoma Baptist to a Tie

Box Score (html)

SHAWNEE, Okla. – SWOSU Soccer played to a draw for the second time this season on Thursday, this time against Oklahoma Baptist by a final score of 3-3. After offensive fireworks in the first half, the Bulldogs failed to score a goal in the final 45 minutes and conceded the lone score of the second half late in the match that allowed OBU to knot things up.

Five of the match's six goals were scored in the opening half, with a different player responsible for each one for both teams. Oklahoma Baptist jumped ahead 2-0 with goals in the 16th and 24th minutes before the Bulldogs went to work.

Trailing 2-0, SWOSU's attack put the pressure on and managed to collect three goals in a matter of minutes. In the 33rd minute, Alimata Rabo got her head on Olivia Butler's corner kick and was able to score her 11th goal of the season and cut the deficit in half. Just two minutes later, Sarah Wilson drove a kick to the top left corner of the goal that found net to give the Dawgs the equalizer. Four minutes after that, Ashlyn Collier got in on the action with her first goal of the season and SWOSU's go-ahead score.

The scoring spurt would be all the Bulldogs would get the rest of the way, taking a 3-2 lead into the half. Out of the break, neither team was able to conjure up a goal for a majority of the remaining time. Oklahoma Baptist finally broke the scoreless streak in the 82nd minute after a mishandled ball from Lexie Bates allowed a tap in from OBU's Abigail Hicks, tying the game back up at 3-3 just before the end of regulation.

In the overtime periods, SWOSU was able to get four shots away but came up empty on all of them.

The tie moves the Bulldogs to 5-3-2 on the season and 2-1-2 in GAC play, heading into another GAC match on Saturday against Southern Nazarene which will start at 6 pm.
