ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Ouachita used a 35-16 advantage in the second quarter and shot 56.1% from the field to defeat SWOSU 114-79 on Saturday afternoon at Bill Vining Arena in Arkadelphia. The setback ends a three-game winning streak for SWOSU and drops the Lady Bulldogs to 8-4 on the year, which includes a 4-2 record in Great American Conference games.
Both teams hit 12 three-pointers in the contest, but Ouachita had 22 more field goal attempts and connected on 46-of-82 (56.1%) of their attempts to run away with the victory. SWOSU held a 26-25 lead after the first quarter, but the Tigers went on an 18-5 run to open the second quarter and never looked back as they outscored the Lady Bulldogs in each quarter to pull away for the big victory.
Savannah Gray led the way for the Lady Dawgs with a seaon-best 19 points on 5-of-11 shooting from three-point range along with going a perfect 4-for-4 from the stripe.
Hayden Priddy chipped in 18 points and three assists while
Hailey Tucker was good for 18 points and seven rebounds.
"We had some defensive breakdowns and made mistakes that allowed them to get going and caused us to go into a drought," SWOSU Head Coach
Kelsi Musick said. "We had too many turnovers and missed opportunities which never gave us a chance to overcome the deficit."
SWOSU (8-4, 4-2 GAC) heads to Ada on Thursday for an in-state showdown against East Central, with tipoff set for 5:30 pm.
