WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The Bulldogs fell to Southeastern Oklahoma State on Monday night 75-62 for their fifth-straight loss of the season. The Dawgs were battered on the boards, getting out rebounded by a +21 margin on the night and were held to 38% shooting.
SWOSU trailed by as many as 14 in the first 15-minutes of the second half and were able to cut the deficit to just three after a
Nick Shoemaker three ball swished in the net with 5:30 remaining in the game. Southeastern answered to push the lead back to double-digits and that's where the score would remain until the clock struck zeros. The Bulldogs tried extending the game by fouling near the 1:30 mark, but SE took advantage of the free shots and managed to take their largest lead of the game at 15 during the slow-played final minute.
The Bulldogs trailed by only three at halftime, but scored only 29 points in the second half and allowed the Savage Storm to put up 45 in the final 20 minutes to pull away.
Markeise Champion was the bright spot for the Dawgs, scoring 21 points on 8-of-15 from the field including 5-for-10 from beyond the arc. Shoemaker was second in scoring, shooting 50% from three for all twelve of his points.
Luke Lewallen ended with nine.
SWOSU (4-11, 1-8 GAC) will travel to Shawnee on Saturday to take on Oklahoma Baptist.
