SWOSU Slowed in Conference Opener at SNU


BETHANY, Okla. – SWOSU Volleyball was upended by Southern Nazarene in four sets on Tuesday evening at the Sawyer Center in Bethany. Set scores of the match 13-25, 25-17, 22-25, 22-25.
 
SWOSU was limited to a hitting percentage of .109 with just 33 kills, compared to 61 kills for the Crimson Storm. Carly Zak led the Bulldog offense with 12 kills, while no other player had more than five. Conversely, SNU had three players with 12 or more kills in the match.
 
After stalling in the opening set, SWOSU hit .286 in the second set with just two hitting errors against their 10 kills, but in each of the other sets the Bulldogs had a percentage lower than .100. Several long points were played in the match, which saw the Crimson Storm out-dig the Bulldogs 82-to-73 and out-block the Dawgs by a 9-to-6 count.
 
Kayla Hebert put up a double-double with 28 assists and 14 digs while Kaitlyn Dillon led the Bulldogs and set a new career-high with 20 digs.
 
The setback drops SWOSU to 2-9 on the year and they open the Great American Conference portion of the schedule with an 0-1 record. The Bulldogs are back in action on Thursday night, hosting Northwestern Oklahoma State at 7:00 pm inside the Pioneer Cellular Event Center in Weatherford.
