Setting the Stage
- The Lady Bulldogs look to bounce back from a tough loss on Thursday by facing Southern Arkansas at noon on Saturday from the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
- SWOSU goes for the season sweep of SAU, previously earning an 89-78 victory over the Muleriders in Magnolia back in December
- Thursday's 87-85 defeat against Arkansas-Monticello snapped a nine-game home winning streak by the Lady Bulldogs, their longest at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center
- SWOSU is 9-5 at home this season, but they are facing one of the best road teams in the GAC in Southern Arkansas, a team that is 8-2 away from home this season
- Janae Coffee was a big factor in SWOSU's win at SAU, recording a monster double-double with 26 points and an NCAA-era school record 27 rebounds
- On the flip side, SAU's Rosa Bryant hung 40 points and 10 rebounds on the Lady Bulldogs, the most points scored by a SWOSU opposing player this season
 
The Opponent
Southern Arkansas (13-5, 9-5 GAC)
- Have won four of their last six games, including a 77-56 victory at Northwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday night and they've already exceeded their win total from last season by four games
- Third-ranked scoring offense in the GAC, just behind SWOSU with an average of 75.7 points per game while allowing 69.4 points per game
- Paced by the GAC's third-leading scorer, Rosa Bryant, who is the only player in the league averaging a double-double: 19.8 points and 12.0 rebounds per game
- Shana Holmes ranks second on the team with a 14.0 ppg average while Tierra Tucker is also chipping in 10.6 ppg
- Ranked second in the GAC in field goal shooting, connecting on 46.0% (535-1163) of their attempts from the field this season
- Have a rebounding margin of +3.6, but they were outrebounded 60-to-40 by the Lady Bulldogs in their first meeting this season
 
The Coaches
SWOSU: Kelsi Musick (102-88; 7th season)
- Two-time GAC Coach of the Year has been the model of consistency, winning GAC Tournament titles in two of the last four years and earning back-to-back NCAA Division II National Tournaments during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons
- Earned her 100th victory as head coach of the Lady Bulldogs on January 18th, 2016 against Northwestern Oklahoma State
- A great developer of talent, Musick has coached one All-American and 12 All-GAC selections, including one Player of the Year recipient
- Musick has also spent time as an assistant coach at Fresno State, where they won two Western Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles, as well as qualified for the NCAA Division I National Tournament in the 2008-09 season
- Has a record of 8-1 against Southern Arkansas as the head coach of the Lady Bulldogs, including 4-0 record in games played in Weatherford
 
Southern Arkansas: Julio Pacheco (13-5; 1st season)
- Became the sixth head coach in SAU women's basketball history last spring after one year away from coaching
- Previously spent seven seasons as the top assistant coach at Arkansas Tech, helping the Golden Suns to four conference champions, three tournament championships and two trips to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight

Last Time Out
- After leading by 11 points in the first quarter, the Lady Bulldogs found themselves down by eight in the final minutes before making a late rally and falling 87-85 to Arkansas-Monticello on Thursday night
- The defeat spoiled a career-best effort from Hailey Tucker, who poured in 31 points on 10-22 shooting, which included four three-pointers
 
SWOSU Notes
- Making her first career start, Hayden Priddy scored 17 points against UAM, her second-highest scoring game of the season behind a 23-point outing at Southern Arkansas
- Priddy and fellow freshman Hailey Tucker combined for 48 points in the game and Tucker has averaged 27.5 points per game in her last two outings
- Thursday's defeat was SWOSU's first loss this season when scoring more than 75 points in a game, dropping the Lady Dawgs to 11-1 in such contests
- Janae Coffee secured her fifth double-double of the season with 11 points and 18 rebounds against UAM, upping her rebounding average to 9.1 per game, third-most in the GAC
- Tucker had the Lady Bulldogs only two blocked shots on Thursday, upping their league-leading total to 108 (5.4/game)
- Tucker, Priddy and Kylie Franz each hit multiple three-pointers as SWOSU combined to go 10-of-21 from long range for their sixth game this season with 10 or more made three's
- Jennifer Williams scored 10 points against UAM, her fourth double-figure scoring performance in the past six games, which raised her season average to 9.6 ppg
- Jessica Penner finished 2-for-2 from the field on Thursday, upping her league-leading field goal percentage to 67.3% (66-for-98)
 
Looking Ahead
- The Lady Bulldogs enter a final stretch which includes five of their last seven games of the 2016 season on the road, beginning on Thursday at East Central
- SWOSU is back at home next Saturday to face Southern Nazarene before heading to Northwestern Oklahoma State on February 15 for rivalry Monday action
