SHAWNEE, Okla. – SWOSU Volleyball was unable to maintain the momentum they built with two road wins over the weekend as Oklahoma Baptist swept the Bulldogs 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-19) on Tuesday evening at the Noble Complex in Shawnee.
SWOSU played from behind the entire first set and fell 25-18 but had early success in each of the next two sets. The Dawgs led 15-14 midway through the second before three straight points by OBU gave them the momentum that they would ride to another 25-18 set win leading into intermission. SWOSU's offense came alive early in the third set, allowing the Dawgs to lead on multiple occasions. With the set tied at 14-14, the teams were knotted up in a long rally that ended with a kill by OBU and the Bison took control from there and finished the match at 25-19.
Carly Zak led the Bulldogs with 11 kills but labored through the match with seven attack errors as well and finished with a .095 hitting percentage.
Paige Holt was more efficient, getting eight kills on 18 swings while hitting .222 and the remainder of the Bulldogs offense had 10 kills combined.
Kayla Hebert led the Dawgs with 19 assists and
Kaitlyn Dillon had a team-high 19 digs from her libero position.
SWOSU (4-11, 2-3 GAC) concludes their five-game road streak this weekend with games at Arkansas-Monticello on Friday and Southern Arkansas on Saturday.
