BETHANY, Okla. – The SWOSU Soccer team dropped their final match of the regular season 2-0 to Southern Nazarene Saturday evening. The Bulldogs were shutout for just the third time this season after being outshot by the Crimson Storm 14-9 on the night.
The Crimson Storm limited the Bulldog offense all game, only allowing SWOSU to take four shots on goal which were all saved by goalkeeper Natasha Fuentes.
Alimata Rabo led the Dawgs with her three shot attempts, followed by
Kendall Harris taking two and four other players adding one apiece. SNU was led by their leading scorer Meagan Chase who netted both goals in the match coming in the 40th and 53rd minutes.
After the loss, the Bulldogs now split the regular-season series with the Crimson Storm, having won 2-0 back on October 6. Despite losing the match on Saturday, SWOSU is still the Great American Conference Champions and will still host the GAC Tournament in Weatherford starting next Thursday, November 3.
Looking ahead, the Bulldogs (12-4-1, 9-3 GAC) and the Crimson Storm will face off in the first round of the conference post-season tournament at 3 pm on Thursday (Nov. 3). The winner of that match will play in the championship game against the winner of Ouachita Baptist and Harding on Saturday (Nov. 5) starting at 11 am.
