Setting the Stage
- Big Monday brings rivalry basketball to the Pioneer Cellular Event Center with the Lady Bulldogs hosting Northwestern Oklahoma State at 5:30 pm
- SWOSU is the hottest team in the conference, having won eight straight games to move into a tie for third place in the GAC standings at 5-3
- The Lady Bulldogs are 7-4 on their home court this season and they just concluded a six-game home stand last Thursday
- In their last six games at home, SWOSU has averaged 82.2 points per game and outscored their opponents by 15 points per contest
- The Lady Bulldogs are 5-0 in January, winning each game by double figures and their average margin of victory is 18.8 points per game
- SWOSU has won five of six meetings against Northwestern Oklahoma State as members of the Great American Conference and they are 3-0 against the Rangers in Weatherford
- Northwestern Oklahoma State's lone victory this season came on the road and the Rangers bring an eight-game losing streak to Weatherford
- Saturday's victory over Southern Nazarene was the 99th career victory for SWOSU Head Coach Kelsi Musick, who is now on the verge of becoming the third coach in program history to reach the 100-win plateau
- The Lady Bulldogs won their eighth straight game on Saturday, tying for the longest win streak under Coach Musick (2011-12 & 2012-13)
 
The Opponent
Northwestern Oklahoma State (1-12, 0-8 GAC)
- Enter Monday's game winless in GAC play, with their lone victory this season coming on November 24th at Panhandle State
- Averaging 57.3 points per game, 11th-best mark in the conference, while allowing 76.7 points per game for an average margin of defeat of 18.9 points
- Led by Kamera Bozeman, who is avearging a team-best 10.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game while shooting 54% from the field
 
The Coaches
SWOSU: Kelsi Musick (99-85; 7th season)
- Two-time GAC Coach of the Year has been the model of consistency, winning GAC Tournament titles in two of the last four years and earning back-to-back NCAA Division II National Tournaments during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons
- Her high-energy style of play has led the Lady Dawgs to rank in the top four in the nation in scoring, and top ten in three points made in three of the last four seasons
- A great developer of talent, Musick has coached one All-American and 12 All-GAC selections, including one Player of the Year recipient
- Musick has also spent time as an assistant coach at Fresno State, where they won two Western Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles, as well as qualified for the NCAA Division I National Tournament in the 2008-09 season
- Has a record of 5-1 against Northwestern Oklahoma State as the head coach of the Lady Bulldogs, including a record of 3-0 at in Weatherford
 
Northwestern Oklahoma State: Brett Vana (1-12; 1st season)
- Hired in September to take over as the head coach of the Rangers women's basketball program
- Came to NWOSU after spending the previous two seasons at NCAA Division I Weber State, where he was an assistant coach for the Wildcats
- Also previously coached at Louisburg College in North Carolina, where he led the Hurricanes to the NJCAA Division II National Championship for the 2012-13 season

Last Time Out
- Jade Jones and Janae Coffee both recorded double-doubles to lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 77-65 win at Southern Nazarene on Saturday, their eighth-straight win
- SWOSU scored the first seven points of the third quarter to break open a six-point game at halftime and they never looked back
- Jones finished with a season-best 24 points and a career-high 11 rebounds while Coffee totaled 18 points -- all in the second half -- and matched Jones with 11 boards
 
SWOSU Notes
- In five wins to start the month of January, SWOSU is outscoring their opponents by 18.8 points per game and outrebounding them by an 11.4 margin per game
- Jade Jones knocked down five three-pointers against SNU, her first game with multiple three's made since at Southern Arkansas on December 5th
- Hailey Tucker had a six-game streak of reaching double figures in scoring snapped at Southern Nazarene, but she added two three-pointers to her season total, which now stands at 44 and ranks second in the conference
- SWOSU continues to lead NCAA Division II in defensive rebounds, averaging 35.1 per game which is better than six rebounds per game better than any other team in the GAC
- Three Lady Bulldogs -- Korina Chapman, Janae Coffee, Hailey Tucker -- rank in the top ten in the league in blocked shots and SWOSU as a team ranks eighth nationally in that category
- Jones had just two assists on Saturday after having at least four in eight consecutive games and she continues to lead the league with 73 (5.2/game) for the year
- With a scoring average of 78.6 points per game, the Lady Bulldogs rank third in the GAC and 13th nationally in scoring
- Jessica Penner leads the Great American Conference in field goal percentage, having connected on 67.6% (48-of-71) of her attempts this season
- Kylie Franz is ranked third in the league with a 2.5:1 assist/turnover ratio this season and the Lady Bulldogs are 9-1 since she moved into the starting lineup
 
Looking Ahead
- SWOSU has another quick turnaround this week, heading to Durant on Wednesday to face Southeastern Oklahoma State
- The Lady Bulldogs conclude the week at home on Saturday, facing Oklahoma Baptist at noon inside the Pioneer Cellular Event Center
