EDMOND, Okla. – SWOSU fell to the No. 19-ranked Central Oklahoma Bronchos in straight sets 3-0 (10-25, 21-25, 15-25) in Edmond, Okla., on Saturday night.
The two teams traded points until the 5-5 mark in the first set when UCO broke the set open by scoring 12 straight points to push it to 17-5 before SWOSU got on the board again. Central Oklahoma wound up taking the set 25-10.
SWOSU hung tough in the second set. After the Dawgs took a slim 15-14 lead deep in the set, UCO slowly took the lead, but SWOSU still threatened as late as 20-19 before falling 25-21 and facing a 2-0 hole entering the third set. The Bronchos sustained several streaks in the final set as SWOSU fell 25-15.
Carly Zak scored a team-best 10 kills on 26 attempts while hitting .192.
DeLayni Fine was second on the team with seven kills and a .235 hitting percentage.
Kaila Lancaster finished the match with a team-high 11 digs.
SWOSU will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 22 for their home-opener against Southern Nazarene at 7 pm in the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
