GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – For the second time in three games at the QuikTrip Division II Classic, the SWOSU Baseball team was held to just one run as they fell to Nebraska-Kearney 6-1 on Saturday morning.
Nolan Barrientos accounted for the Bulldogs only run, a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the second inning. The run came after SWOSU left the bases loaded in the first inning, the beginning of a day that saw the Bulldogs leave 11 runners on base for the game.
Dalton Daniels led the Bulldogs with two hits and one walk as SWOSU finished with seven hits for the game, but also committed three errors.
Connor Garcia (0-2) suffered the loss after tossing 3.1 innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs.
Austin Hilton pitched 4.2 innings in relief, allowing just four hits but three runs, two of which were earned, while
Dillon Freie faced three runners to retire the side in the ninth inning.
SWOSU concludes their play at the QuikTrip Classic on Sunday afternoon, facing fellow GAC member Ouachita Baptist in a non-conference, regional contest with first pitch set for 4:00 pm.
