Jordan Franz proved the difference as SWOSU emerged 61-60 winners over the Savage Storm on Saturday in Great American Conference action.

Emeche Wells with 1:06 left in the game and immediately knocked down a shot from deep to give SWOSU a 59-58 lead with 48 seconds remaining. Southeastern Oklahoma State regained the lead 60-59 before the Savage Storms' Darius Harris fouled Franz on a 3-point attempt with 7.7 seconds left. Franz went 2-3 from the stripe, and SOSU, missed on the final shot of the game, to give SWOSU the late victory over their in-state rival.
Both teams struggled to generate any offense to begin the game, with SOSU leading 16-12 after ten minutes of play. The Bulldogs heated up from there, going on a 15-0 run over the next six minutes to lead 26-16. The Bulldogs would finish the half leading 35-26.
SWOSU kept the Savage Storm at bay for the majority of the second half, but Southeastern pulled within one at 56-55 with 2:05 left in the game. With 1:07 left in the game, SOSU's Harris hit a three which set the stage for Franz's heroics.
Martell Collins,
Trent Washington and Kenyon Borders all finished in double digit scoring with 15, 12 and ten points respectively. Collins also finished with a team-high nine rebounds, while Borders had a game-high seven assists, including a crucial one on Franz's 3-point make with 48 seconds left.
Action resumes for SWOSU when they welcome Ouachita Baptist to the Pioneer Cellular Event Center on Thursday, January 8 for GAC action. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
