WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Athletic Director
Todd Thurman and members of the Legacy Bank staff were on hand Wednesday morning to unveil the latest addition to the Pioneer Cellular Event Center: the Legacy Bank Media Room.
"The Legacy Bank Media Room is one of the unique features of the Pioneer Cellular Event Center," Thurman said. "We had ideas on what we wanted to do with this room, but we needed some help. That was when Legacy Bank stepped in to assist us because they shared our dream and our vision for this room and the benefits it can provide for our university and our student-athletes while also providing versatility to be used for any other number of business meetings or outside events."
The Legacy Bank Media Room is on the lowest level of the Pioneer Cellular Event Center in between the locker rooms of the SWOSU volleyball and women's basketball teams. The room will be open to all SWOSU Athletic teams for watching film as well as postgame press conferences and other media appearances.
"The vision for the Pioneer Cellular Event Center was great for Southwestern Oklahoma State University and the City of Weatherford," John Thompson, Senior Vice President of Legacy Bank said. "As a company and as a citizen of this town, I thought that it was important for us to contribute to the building and be a part of something great. Seeing the room today, it's just extraordinary and it has exceeded my expectations!"
Also sharing thoughts at the dedication were Dave Fuller and Steve Carmack from Legacy Bank along with SWOSU President Randy Beutler and City of Weatherford Mayor Mike Brown. SWOSU assistant men's basketball coach
Kris Johnson, a person Thurman credited with many of the concepts for the room, also provided a demonstration of the smartboard podium, one of the key features of the Legacy Bank Media Room.
The Legacy Bank Media Room is outfitted with 30 theater seats, made by Dreamseat, that feature a SWOSU Bulldog head logo on the back. The seats are in three tiers starting on the back wall, which is outfitted with a side-by-side timeline of highlights from both SWOSU and Legacy Bank and their more than 100 years of tradition in Western Oklahoma.
Other features include the SMART Podium interactive pen display, which will allow coaches to interact with digital content and what they write will be displayed on a 92-inch motorized screen at the front of the room that runs off of a high definition projector. A whiteboard also adorns the wall behind the projector and the room is wifi compatible and outfitted with 7.1 surround sound and a blu-ray player.
