HOT SPRINGS, ARK. – The 2014 season has concluded for the SWOSU Volleyball team after the Bulldogs were eliminated from the Great American Conference Tournament on Thursday by top-seeded Arkansas Tech in straight sets (16-25, 16-25, 18-25) at the Bank of the Ozarks Arena.

Carly Zak led the Bulldogs with 14 kills while hitting .268 against the Golden Suns, who hit .310 for the match compared to .115 for SWOSU. Joey Collins added seven kills and Brandy Mader had six for the Dawgs. Alyssa Olson had a team-high 16 assists while Mader added 11 and Kaila Lancaster (14) and Ariana Olson (10) both reached double figures in digs.

Zak surpassed the 700-kill mark for her career in the match and she ends her sophomore season ranked third in career kills at SWOSU with 711.

Arkansas Tech – who led wire-to-wire in the match – out-blocked SWOSU 7-2 in the match, but that did not stop the Bulldogs from setting a new single-season school record by averaging 2.01 blocks per set as a team this season. SWOSU concludes the season with 211 total blocks, the third-most in school history.

The loss wraps up the season for the Bulldogs with a disappointing 8-19 record, but the 2014 senior class of six has left their mark on the SWOSU Volleyball record books.

  - Collins concludes her career five kills shy of 1,000 for her career and ranking second all-time at SWOSU with 995 while also ranking in the top ten in attack attempts, digs and blocks.
  - Kiley Brennfoerder will graduate ranking second in career blocks at SWOSU with 283 and first in assist blocks with 226 in just three years with the Bulldogs.
  - Shayne Haley finishes her two-year stint at SWOSU ranking ninth in career blocks at SWOSU with 93
  - Mader topped the 1,000-assist mark last week and she graduates as the fifth all-time leader in assists with 1,035 in two seasons
  - Taylor VanderWerff recorded 72 assist blocks in her senior season, the fifth-most in a single-season at SWOSU
  - Alyssa Olson recently broke into the top ten list for career assists at SWOSU and she will graduate in eighth place with 207 the past two years

As a team, SWOSU completes their season averaging 17.9 digs per set, the second-highest total in school history, to go along with their record-setting blocks total. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 1-4 all-time at the Great American Conference Tournament, where they have been eliminated in the first round three times in the past four seasons.
