JOPLIN, Mo. – The first set of the Missouri Southern Invitational went the way of Southwestern Oklahoma State University volleyball, but the Dawgs were held without another set on Friday, falling in four sets to Missouri Western before a sweep at the hands of No. 4-ranked Central Missouri.
Missouri Western 3, SWOSU 1 (25-23, 18-25, 13-25, 18-25)

The Bulldogs were unable to capitalize after winning a close first set by a score of 25-23. Missouri Western responded by winning three straight sets, holding SWOSU under 20 points in each.
Joey Collins led SWOSU with a double-double of 17 kills and 16 digs while
Carly Zak put down 15 kills on 39 attempts. Committing 26 hitting errors left the Bulldogs with a hitting percentage of .142 for the match, compared to .270 hitting by the Griffons.
#4 Central Missouri 3, SWOSU 0 (15-25, 14-25, 18-25)

The undefeated Jennies flexed their muscles against the Bulldogs, hitting well above .200 in each set while holding SWOSU to 25 kills. UCM also had an advantage at the net, sending back nine SWOSU shots as opposed to four for the Bulldogs.
Zak had a team-high 10 kills in the match with two errors and Collins finished with nine.
SWOSU falls to 7-12 on the year heading into Saturday's matchups with Northwest Missouri State and Pittsburg State. The Bulldogs first match on Saturday is at 1 pm.
