Originally from Anadarko, Okla., Williams was an outstanding athlete, earning four letters as a fullback in football and three each as guard in basketball and as a third baseman in baseball. Described as the “human battering ram,” Williams led the Bulldogs as a scorer and passer during the 1938 and 1939 seasons. He was offered a professional contract by the Detroit Lions but instead went into the education field. He was superintendent at Edmond and Meeker and coach and teacher at Mountain View and Anadarko High Schools.
