Considered to be the most dominant wrestlers in school history, Teague helped to establish the school’s rich past in the sport. He was a combined 50-3 in his dual matches as a heavyweight under the tutelage of the legendary SWOSU coach Joe Milam, and never lost a match after his freshman year. He was the Oklahoma Conference Heavyweight Champion in 1932, 1933 and 1934. He went on to win the NCAA Heavyweight Championship in 1933 and 1934 and National AAU titles in 1934 and 1935. His career culminated when he was selected as an Olympic wrestler for the 1936 Games in Berlin, Germany, but he had to back out due to a knee injury. Teague graduated magna cum laude in 1934 with a degree in English.
