Harold Stinson

A native of Mountain View, Okla., Stinson sandwiched an outstanding college career around a stint in the United States Navy where he served on a Fleet Tanker during World War II. After being discharged with the rank of Storekeeper Second Class, Stinson resumed his college career in 1946 where he was an outstanding quarterback as well as basketball player. He was named the basketball team’s Most Valuable Player in each of his last two seasons. He was named to the Daily Oklahoman’s All-Decade Team of the 1940’s.

Stinson was offered a contract to play professional football with the Los Angeles Rams but instead opted to continue his education and eventually earn his master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. He taught and coached at high schools in Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado before retiring in 1975.
