Dr. Bill Davis

A Lone Wolf, Okla., native, Davis was an all-conference football end in 1951, 1952 and 1953. He was an all-conference basketball forward and was named to the NAIA All-American team in 1954. He set a conference high jump record of 6-4 ½ in 1954, a record that would stand for the next ten years. He also served as the senior class president and was listed in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Davis would eventually earn additional degrees before receiving a doctorate of philosophy. He would spend more than 15 years as a professor in the department of zoology at Louisiana Tech University.
